Typical Family Targets
Emotional Targets
My son has great difficulty expressing
his emotions in a socially appropriate way. We have major-melt downs
when I try to help him express himself.
My son/daughter is terrified of ______.
Can we please work on this?
(Many of our clients at PACE Place have
extraordinary fears which we have helped families address. Some
specific fears have included: balloons, hair cuts, escalators, crossing
streets, strangers, Koosh balls, dogs, elevators,
black holes).
He over-reacts to small mistakes or
accidents. He needs assistance with emotional regulation.
Can my son learn to calm himself and
regulate himself?
My son has great difficulty coping with
things that are unpredictable.
Can we increase his awareness of how his
actions affect others?
Please help our daughter not get so
stuck in her negative emotions. Once she is sad/mad/frustrated, it is
extremely difficult to help her get out of her negative mood.
My son tends to over-react to the
negative emotions of people around him. If someone is sad, he becomes
sad himself. If someone gets angry at him, he gets really angry back.
I need help with this vicious cycle.
My child needs to learn to recognize if
he is emotionally coordinated or discoordinated with me.
My son is very risk aversive (slides,
swings, escalators, bikes, swimming). How can we help him?
